Introduction

Pangsit is a popular snack in Indonesia, especially in Chinese cuisine. It is a small, thin-skinned dumpling filled with minced meat, vegetables, and spices. Pangsit can be fried or boiled and served with various dipping sauces. Making pangsit at home is easy, and you can customize the filling according to your taste.

Ingredients

To make pangsit, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 250 grams of wheat flour
  • 100 ml of water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 250 grams of ground chicken or pork
  • 1/2 cup of chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrot, celery)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Instructions

Follow these steps to make pangsit:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, water, egg, and salt to make the dough. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the ground meat, vegetables, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, pepper, sugar, cornstarch, and vegetable oil. Mix well until the filling is evenly combined.
  3. Dust a clean surface with flour and roll out the dough into a thin sheet. Use a round cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles of dough.
  4. Place a small amount of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges together to seal.
  5. Repeat until all the dough and filling are used up.
  6. To fry the pangsit, heat a pan with enough oil to cover the dumplings. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
  7. To boil the pangsit, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook for 3-5 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  8. Remove the pangsit from the pan or pot and drain on a paper towel.
  9. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
